This article was inspired by a friend of mine who lives thousands of miles away and wanted to send me many pictures. There are so many pictures that they cannot be emailed because most most e-mail servers are capped with a 10MB limit (or less). What is Open Source Software?

Do you believe there is no free lunch? I was always brought up to believe nothing in life is free. After spending the last twelve years working on the Internet I have learned that if you have a good eye free lunches are a dime a dozen. In this article I want to talk about free and open source software. What is open source software? Basically, it is free for use. You can modify, examine and improve the source code. The idea is we all share our updates and knowledge to allow for constant evolution of the software programming. Even just being a user is helping the cause because every program needs people to test it.

New Site Launch Case Study
Pipe-restoration.com is a California based company specializing in pipe inner lining with epoxy. This process was originally developed by the United States Navy in the 1980’s. From this R & D CuraFlo Engineered Flow Lining System® emerged [1]. In 1996 a group of commercial plumbers pioneered this affordable solution to re-piping. When CuraPoxy® is applied to copper, galvanized or lead piping systems the life expectancy is 40-60 years. This is a longer life estimated time duration than any piping systems. Let’s get this straight, I am not Google bashing here. I love the Googley folks, they rock. When it comes to categorizing information so relevant results can’t be served quickly to us Google rules! Is there more to your cyberlife of business and personal interests? You bet there is and it’s not for everyone. For online marketeers you may not be willing to invest the time needed to be a recognized “top contributer” in Yahoo! Answers. You might appreciate all the tools Google gives you (I do) in the Webmaster’s toolbox but big perspective is an asset in this world. That said, I say spread your wings. Here’s what I think Yahoo! does better than Google …
Yahoo! Website Explorer
This is my favorite tool to use when you really want to study a web site. Is one of your competitors out ranking you for keywords that you want to rank for? Yes, Google does have tools such as site- maps and a suite of other website diagnostic tools. They also use the best quality control filters in the search industry. For this reason I would prefer the Yahoo! Suite of explorer tools because I’d like to see unfiltered results. Site- explorer begins with entering the site you want to learn more about.

You will immediately see important information about the site you entered. How many pages are currently in the search engine index? How many other web sites are linking to yours? These are two key questions about any web site that are great to have answered immediately. Use this information to help you learn more about your own web site or your competitors.
It’s fast -free and requires no special account.
