Introduction to WordPress Websites

As soon as you say the words build a website, images cross your mind. Depending on who you are these images include painful, brain bending thoughts around the design and full deployment of your new site. Don’t feel bad, it happens to the best of us. There are so many ways to skin a cat.

If you have browsed a bit on the GALearning site, you may have noticed that many of my views are data driven and simple.

I just love examining keywords and markets in ways you have never imagined to create your synonymic set of keywords. This data becomes the foundation and framework of your website.

A website is a web property you own (or rent) that displays your presentation on a screen to the world. There are countless ways to create your own website. Without doubt, my favorite is with WordPress blog software. It is so easy to work with, install, upgrade, add plugins, and just create damn sexy web pages in seconds.

Ready to go, Let’s Create One

The first decision you’ll need to make is whether it’s your first (stand alone) blog or going to be part of your existing website. If it’s a stand alone blog you’ll need to register a domain name first. Alternatively you can adapt a blog to your website by adding a new folder or sub domain. Your URL structure would publish in one of 2 ways.

Sub domain- http://blogname.yourdomain.com

New folder- http://yourdomain.com/blogname

It is up to you how you want your URL to appear. There are no proven case studies that one way is better than the other.
