The Law of Attraction in Social Networks

How to Attract People and Brand Yourself

Don’t Talk Like a God

Respect the fact that people are reading your content with the same or more knowledge than you have, Know-it-alls are not generally likeable people. Every single contribution you make (post or reply) should have wholesome substance to the topic of the conversation. You are trying to win the respect of people, not flog your business. Who are you? What is your area of expertise?

“Teach me, help me discover, give me a warm a fuzzy feeling”

As you begin to get involved, every message you post becomes a part of your brand identity to your audience of friends and followers. In time, your helpful messages will paint a clear, honest picture of who you really are!

Meet People in Social Networks by Sharing

How to Put it All Together

Find Trust in New Friends!

When that happens people will gladly step out of the social channel into your sales funnel if they truly believe you are going to help them out. There is NO WAY to cheat trust and win! When traditional marketing people recognize that real involvement is a requirement, marketing in the social sphere will make more sense and truly help brand recognition. Yes, it takes more time and planning but the reward opportunity is only limited by your own imagination. At this point the transition from social to sales lies totally in your follower’s mind. There is no push or sense of urgency, it is a natural progression that stems from your online social persona.

Sooner Or Later…Better Sooner

It is not a question of “if” it is a question of “when” your business will engage social networks. If you look at Twitter you can see names like CNN News, Google, Tony Robbins etc. Additionally, when you get close to your marketplace you may learn things that cause you to re-engineer your sales process because of what the people are saying or asking for. It is how the master minds create pinpointed solutions that are irresistible offers.

Social Networking Thoughts to Ponder

Baby Boomers Love Social Networking

Although Facebook was created for kids by a kid (Harvard undergrad student Mark Zuckerberg, 26 years old in 2011), parents are connecting with old high school friends, flames, and even teachers. Currently 33% of internet users have memberships in social networks. This is an increase of 8% from 2005 as reported by Pew Internet & American Life Project.

A few people I talked to in my age group had some very telling information for me.

Simple Guide to Social Networking

Scream Selling WON’T WORK

Make me laugh, dazzle me, teach me but DON’T scream your products in my face!

It is the easiest way to get blackballed in a social network. To talk to your connections in a social network you need to be a real person that is not pushing an agenda. Much the same as your own community you work and live in, social networking demands value from you with unconditional involvement. What you put into your community is what you will get out of it.

Traditional marketers are making the biggest mistake approaching the social networks with traditional hands. Imagine for a moment each social network is an old town of people. That is the best way to approach social networks as you contribute to your community. It’s a new era that requires a new outlook and approach. Think about it…when you talk to your children, you speak a certain way. When you talk to your accountant you will talk a different way…it’s the way humans have always communicated! Would you pitch Amway products at your family Thanksgiving dinner? [I hope not]

The Art of Social Collaboration

How do you connect with people you don’t know? There are ways to do that but no shortcuts; it’s like a cyber handshake with each new connection. I like to find groups I am interested in and get to know the other members, especially the ones I have a lot in common with. Groups and followers are relationships you have that are your assets. As trust grows your assets get stronger. Are you a real part of your community? You wouldn’t meet someone new and immediately propose to them would you? A basic fundamental in any business; once you cross the trust barrier with a relationship, good things happen. Easier said than done, right? WRONG! The best relationships are formed from one simple thing- LISTENING! We all have the tendency to speak first without listening—WHO likes a bigmouth? Remember having a conversation with your closest peers and someone barges in only to ruin it. Rudeness by interrupting conversations is something people have never taken kindly to, social networks are no different. Take the aforementioned approach after getting to know the mood of the conversation and now you can talk turkey.

Social Networking Quick Facts for 2010-2011

What’s going on in Social Networks?

As a 12 veteran of internet business I can feel the tide changing like never before. Post 2007, it seemed we had very little choice for learning about topics. If we wanted to know more about the car we wanted to buy, a recipe for dinner or the hottest trends we would just Google it. Since the emergence of Facebook & Twitter the online marketing landscape changed dramatically. Basically, people have taken complete control over the internet, leaving no doubt who really drives the web.

Social Networking Case Study

Case Study- Building Social Relationships

The following document outlines an experiment I have conducted in the social space. It was a very small one, with the purpose of measuring the effects of a social announcement on a new website (No traffic). On May 5, 2009 I completed and passed my GAIQ (Google Analytics Individual Qualification) exam. Once you pass the exam you are given a certificate of accomplishment from Google, which you can see by clicking the link above. I posted this certificate on Facebook & Twitter. Below is my account of the effect using Google Analytics to measure website traffic.

Network: Facebook & Twitter

Purpose: Effects of a Social announcement on website traffic
