Having access to the data in analytics is very sexy indeed.

If you are adding Adwords to your advertising mix read on, if not you can skip this section and go right to registering a Google Analytics account.

Joining AdWords to Google Analytics

Before you go ahead and register an analytics account let’s not cause extra work and frustration. One important choice you need to make before creating a Google Analytics account is whether you are going to use Adwords for advertising or not. In simple terms, if you are going to use AdWords then you should create (and join) your account starting from Google AdWords.

Login to your Adwords account go to My Account>Account Preferences>Tracking> Edit, and then check the box. After you have turned automatic tagging on simply click the analytics tab you see above and follow the instructions. So as an Adwords user, if you went ahead and just created your analytics account first you would not be able to join them without contacting Google and having to request a manual change. You have already saved yourself a major headache because when Adwords and Analytics are joined, improving the ROI picture is a lot clearer. Now you will have full access to Adwords data in Analytics.
