Can Joomla & Wordpress Work Together?
Joomla, Wordpress or Both?

How to Join Joomla and WordPress
The question for newcomers to the world of CMS is which product best suits your business? The best open source CMS seems to be Drupal, Joomla, or WordPress. In the circle I hang with few people would argue Wordpress rocks. Having used both platforms (Drupal and Joomla are very similar) for online magazines, blogs and business websites WordPress shines in all aspects –thanks to the tight knit community of users and developers. There are just way more themes, gizmos and gadgets. The technical capabilities of each client will change and that is the main reason why the CMS software should also be your top choice—scalability. To me, it is hard to imagine any CMS as well rounded as WordPress. Think about the countless templates and plugins that are installed in seconds! That’s just my opinion and there are many people that would argue with me. For my situation, WordPress rocks. In my day job I have to use both. Joomla also has core strengths that WordPress does not have.
The Race Has No Finish Line

Who Wins...WordPress or Joomla
Wordpress is now at version 2.8.3 while Joomla is boasting version 1.5.x. For big sites many gurus seem to believe that Joomla is the way to go. Multiple users can contribute to 1 website with Joomla Administrators keeping a firm grip on permissions. Basically Joomla publishers can take areas of a website and own them. This makes the Joomla application great for a team of developers sharing a common goal. On the other hand take a look at WordPress and Plugins. Most plugins are simple to install and are activated in one click. There are currently 6,216 plugins, 44,571,011 downloads, and counting. Anything you can dream of I am sure there is a plugin available. If not, just mention it to the right people and it may magically appear. Plugins allow to extend the power of WordPress into unimaginable areas.
CMS- How Much $ and Which One Works Best?

Manage your content from anywhere
Content management systems range from free to expensive. It depends what your requirements are. If you are like the majority, free CMS is the way to go. Free, open source systems like Wordpress, Joomla, or Mambo make a lot of people happy. The common feature in all CMS is the ability to keep your information nicely nested in themes (architecture). They also allow you to easily invite others to help you build your site. Out of the free CMS tools I like Joomla for robust sites where several webmasters are working on the site simultaneously. I like Wordpress for websites, keeping in touch with subscribers.

It really depends on the type of website you have. If your site is going to be huge then Joomla may be a better answer although I love the templating system in WordPress. On the other hand I like the flexibility of the Joomla templating system.

Wordpress and Joomla in Harmony
In one of the latest website strategies we implemented we used a Wordpress Blog to brand and a Joomla site for sales copy. They work great together with a theme focus of 2 different segments in the same industry. The Joomla site feeds the RSS feed from the WordPress blog. The beautiful part of this is it’s so easy to manage. If you want ecommerce, add a WordPress plugin—if want to change the look of your entire Joomla website change the template. Most of the features you need are right there for you and if they are not, just add em.
You better not be worrying about Choosing between WordPress or Joomla any longer. It’s really not good for your health. The easy solution for the problem is eliminating the problem. You may have never considered the option of putting them together, now you can open your mind to a bigger and better concept. Use these tips be happier and smarter with your web property decisions.
