Building Your Business Website
Getting your own business web site is a great way to increase visibility and reach immediately. If you really want to attract the right audience there are steps I always like to take before I create any website. I have listed basic steps for real estate marketing in a previous post to help you understand what is required to build a high conversion site that visitors will return to and enjoy viewing.
Who are we trying to appeal to? Do you just want to have a website full of homes for sale or do we want to dig a little deeper and become a helping hand? There are millions of real estate professionals in in the world trying to do the same thing you are; and by my observation the majority use a template approach. This may seem like no biggy to you but templates can be seen as duplication in the eyes of a search algorithm. Duplication can mean devaluation!

Web Site Design Architecture
What’s-your-business-mantra?
These are four words that often challenge leaders in rising to the top of the search engine ranks.
Original Creative’s
The answer to the above question will provide insights into the creation of your site. My simple creative philosophy is feed the website design team a comprehensive road map to create a special site everytime. No two websites are the same and using a web page template is a big NO NO in my way of thinking. If you want a templated site Template Monster has a $75 deal for you. A template will allow you to make your own website but lacks the uniqueness needed for advertising, branding, and internet marketing. Additionally many other websites share the same html thumbprint. You guessed it, Google’s natural algorithm won’t like it or worst, you may end up staring down your own site design on someone else’s website.
Building A Website Is Like Building a House
So you and your significant other decided to build your own house, Congratulations! Are you going to put on your work clothes and do it yourselves? My guess is you would hire a contractor to oversee your dream. If you are serious about doing business online there are many similarities between creating a cosy website and building your own house. Is it time to look at a web design company or would your rather tackle it yourself? Either way, an original site map (blueprint) is where all the art is and it is the beginning of a process that fits together like a glove around your business.
Your website is real estate (your property) online.

Website Analytics Resistance
Website analytics are being overlooked and misunderstood by many organizations from my perspective. There are the elite few that truly leverage the capability and effectiveness of intelligent website analysis. Why do some people oppose data driven decisions? I think we need to look at the emotional side of deliberative and analytic processes. It’s not that we really have to but if we do, our delivery can be enhanced. We should try to understand who we are talking to when presenting our analytic report.
Case and Point
I recently delivered one of my most telling reports to a well established business. As you can see (other than the Christmas season) this website gets its fair share of traffic. The bounce rate is great; visitors are looking at almost 8 pages per visit. With about half a million monthly visitors we can tell at a glance visitors are engaged with this website.

The New Google Analytics Referral Site?
How Do You Like The Look?
Has anyone seen the Google Analytics Partners listings on the Google website lately? For most of you this probably does not mean a thing. For the folks that have worked so hard to become a GAAC (Google Analytics Authorized Consultant) you may be scratching your head? Will these changes affect the leads a qualified company receives? Let’s explore that question…
1) Link to Partners Website Gone
No longer do GAACs find your direct link to your homepage. Instead you will find a hyperlink “Link to vendor’s website”. When you click on the link, it is not actually a direct link to your site. In the code you can see that it redirects from Google to your website.
