“When is the last time someone came up to you, looked into your eyes, and said who are you?” Robert Kennedy

July 13, 2009- GALearning.com completes another chapter in the ongoing free search engine marketing journal. The tutorial brings the technical and marketing sides to implementing your initiatives closer together.

What if we did not have email or the internet in business? I have been there! In the 80’s we were the first company in our city to get a fax machine. Those were the days. What ever happened to those people that used to call on me everyday? Where are the eye whites of the people I do business with?

In May 2009 GALearning.com launched a test phase. The unique idea to this test was to pound the pavement (Old school) and meet people as the preferred method of doing business. Since that is the way I personally grew in the 80’s it was not Greek to me. I felt like I had a distinct advantage over other businesses because nobody is doing it. Knock, knock, from door to door I went. What a treat, the nasty gatekeepers that used to be perched at reception are not the same! How can I help you sir?

This is a very cool concept and works like magic. If you are a business minded person looking for a simple way to get or grow business, package up your business mantra up and take it on the road locally if you can. In our first month of business we did 20 deals in my business directly attributed to “in the flesh” meetings. I made many sound connections than I normally make in 3 months of sales through email, phone, or online communication. Not to mention, the quality of client here is superb because we cherry picked them.

The work we provide is website analysis, strategies, website design, and consulting. As such, we have analyzed our first month of business which primarily focuses on Google Analytics set up and reporting in the Greater Toronto Area. Using the internet as a resource to find prospects we were able to map out all the businesses we wanted to talk to in a few hours.

This was an incredibly enlightening test, especially if you want to break out of the cyber bubble we all seem to be caught up in business. June 2009 is almost double the sales of May. We have not stopped knocking on doors and to our pleasant surprise we are eating up the competition in a lot of calls. In many of these calls the only reason we are getting the business is because we meet the client and spend quality time listening to what they need.

Yes, the doors have opened for business at GALearning. What makes us unique is we like to shake your hand and smile, then 2 way communication is so much more productively pleasant.
