Social Networking
Hey, are you paying attention to what is happening in the social space? If you look at social networks such as Facebook there are patterns emerging. Facebook is now one of the top three websites in the world; the only more visited websites are Google and Yahoo! I predict in the next three months that Facebook will be next in line to take over number one ranked website in the world.

In my opinion social networks are great to meet new people and possibly build relationships that may enter your business world. Although I have found it is not the place to scream “buy me”. On the other hand, it can be a clever way to help brand your business with positive interactions throughout your growing network. This is done by building your network of friends and engaging in good conversion.

You can also use social networks to explore topics that you find interesting. Whether it’s business or pleasure, finding and getting opinions from others can often lead to insightful information gathering. For example if you go to Twitter search, you will be able to see what people are saying about any topic at that moment. That can also provide some very telling information – for better or worse.
Here are some steps to consider before joining a network and engaging.
- Theme- Who are you and what do you want to appear like? Learn why having a theme strategy is important to keeping on topic and meeting like minded people.
- Profile Creation- Discover steps to creating a healthy profile. Curious people often go to your profile to check you out. What is your message once they do?
- Content Creation- Your profile should have a short description of you. What are your likes, favorite TV show, favorite books, Favorite music?
- Engagement- How are you going to hook up with new friends?
- Regular Interactions- As you grow your network and share thoughts, regular interacts are almost expected by your friends. In fact, some loyal followers actually wait for words of wisdom form you.
Gaining acceptance in the social space is easy if you just be yourself. That’s why people are really there! The steps above should be based on who you are…no lies.In my experience your social network friends naturally form a curiosity about you. When they do it’s usually your profile that get’s the first visit. Then where do you think they go?
