SEO and Content Secret Ranking Formula
… for Internet Marketing Companies

If you are a search engine marketing professional it is your advantage to be able to differentiate between the many types of content (sales copy, news clips, press releases, emotional, persuasive, etc). It’s no secret that seo content or purposed content plays an instrumental role with SEM (search engine marketing), but can SEO content also be engaging to the reader?
The first thing we must do is define SEO content. Without looking for a meaning I would say it is purposed content intended to rank for targeted keywords. OK, so we can just write articles and use the keyword we want to rank for lots of times, right? I wish it was that easy and so do you. There are many variables with your content that will ultimately affect your ranking.
Article Ranking Factors

- Keyword frequency in body
- Relevant Links that point to your article
- Website your article is placed on
- Use of heading <h> tags
- Interlinking to other relevant articles
- Using primary keyword in Title
- Authority status of website
- Duplicate content
- Popularity of targeted keyword (market size)
- Article links to garbage sites
There are more but these are the most important ones, in my opinion.
Are There Different Kinds Of Writing Styles?
It’s kind of funny when you talk to Expert writers, good story tellers, or technical authors the answers you often get. There is only 1 way to write…from the hip or technical documents are not intended for SEO purposes. What would you say if both of those responses are correct? SEO content and seo article writing must appeal to both audience’s…man and machine. For laser keyword focus today using a seo article composer is not going to cut it. Now, we are getting at the heart of the matter…
What is SEO?
Search engine optimization is a conscious effort made to strategically rank for desirable phrases on your website. That is where some SEOers end. All you need to do is address the 10 points above and that’s it, your SEO is complete? This is where a transformation has taken place with SEO professionals. Not all SEO companies have adapted this methodology; in fact I find most have not. If your company purchases SEO services it’s time to listen up. What I am about to tell you should raise your eyebrows and cause you to ask more questions to your SEO firm AND demand answers.
Questions to Ask Your SEO Professional (Firm)
- What keywords are we trying to rank for and how are you going do it?

- Do you have any current client examples of websites that rank for competitive SEO terms? If so, can we follow up references?
- When our pages rank for terms, what happens when we start getting clicks to our site?
- Does SEO include conversion optimization (lead generation, sales, etc)?
- Is keyword research included in the SEO process?
- If analytics are being used will the SEO process include reviewing historical analytic data?
- If you are using Google AdWords will SEO strategy be in sync with PPC strategy?
In today’s online world we need to realize search engines use quality score. Part of quality score is how well received your site is when a visitor lands on it (engagement). What I am telling you is if your website does not deliver a pleasing affect to the people that visit, it may have negative impact on your paid and natural ranking. In website analytics high bounce and exit pages should be studied closely, especially if they are important to your site’s goals. The bottom line is SEO professionals need to be looking at marketing, research, onpage/offpage set up, social networking, conversion, and analysis. There are no short cuts and old SEO processes that are being employed at SEO firms are not benefiting clients in an optimized way. Algorithm chasers are history!
If we can agree that good SEO comes from the above noted points then the role of an SEO professional has dramatically changed. The impact this has is two-fold;
- SEO professionals that can execute “all in” strategies are worth more on the payroll.
- Companies that can define the strategy to a client with all encompassing thinking will deliver better results to the client.

Back to Optimizing the Contents of Your Web Site
If you want to learn the finer points of SEO writing styles it starts with drilling your market down. Find the hottest topics in your market and speak to your audience. Use Keyword tools to help find your sweet spot. Once you have studied your market (forums, blogs, searching, etc) and found the best keywords to use; create your content. You want to follow these basic steps to create WebPages that are sticky. When you have completed your content writing, a table of contents is next (homepage).
Recommended SEO Steps Using Powerful Software and your Brains
- Business Model- Ask the client for a business plan, model, mission statement, or any
media that will help you become familiar with the individual business. - Research market- Use Google search and specialized software (if you have it) to learn the market vibe (Trends, popular products, costs, competitors, social activity, etc).

- Theme Keywords- Drill for high theme relevance

- Synonym Research- Find words that mean the same
- Check Skeleton- Set up Complete give it a final check
- Creating Content- Well themed in skeleton

- Client Walkthrough- SEO professional navigates the client through the web-based wireframe and further illustrates strategy for ranking.
- Website Creatives- Production team can build out a few creatives while the client and SEO professional finalized wireframe.
- Content Development- After approval of wireframe content creation is next. The client supplies it or content writers will create it. Once composed the client is required to sign off. Content includes contextual, video, feeds, etc. SEO will be needed to tag videos, provide on-page structure, define keywords, etc.
- Present Creatives- Client can see 2-3 creatives with sample content placed. Client chooses the most desirable creative.
- Keyword Generation- Content pages can now be united into the creative. First each one should have its own set of unique keyword identifiers and a short description to be used in meta tags
- Content Interlinking and On Page SEO- Within each content section you want to interlink your content to related content. We will also apply on-page SEO factors like keyword in page title, <h> heading tags, <b> bold face, etc. Meta tag data is included in the content pages for production team to unite into Meta tags. SEO team must control this.
- Site Build- Production team creates website, main navigation menus, social widgets, data bases, news feeds etc.
As you can see seo content is a deliberate act that involves high level thinking and planning… there is absolutely no denying it.
More on SEO Content and Linking
Gbot (and other search engine bots) will spend more time crawling deep links to your site when you have incoming links to your written articles. Do not lose sight of the fact Google has become almost human now, like users, they prefer unique writing that people find useful. If you produce web content of expert value it only takes a few links from other experts to start ranking. The result is getting indexed quickly and probably a good ranking.
Recap Keyword Research
When all is said and done your site context will have your name on the dotted line and it must appeal to all audiences. Keyword focus content is determined through keyword research and the client’s business model. This rule applies to all types of writing styles for web site content writing. Your writing style is created around relevant keyword clusters that represent your business in the most profitable way. Content is part of the process of optimization when writing website content. Getting ranked highly does not come with good writing style alone, but sites without useful content will likely not get found through natural rankings.
Recap on Page Optimization
Proper keyword research for website writing is helpful in attaining favorable consideration within search engine indexes. One content optimization technique I like is using general phrases (high traffic) to describe our website subjects along with expert terms as seen and recognized by Google. Being seen as an expert is a top 3 ranking factor and that comes from powerful content that other expert’s link to.

Once you find the Sweet Spot that you know is reaching your goals SEO has been performed effectively. Clients will definitely feel better about ranking and visitor engagement on their website. I wrote this post for consumers of SEO services. In January 2009 this biggest change in the history of SEO took place; “personal search” The consequence of this change has “flipped the SEO industry on its ears” (Bruce Clay). In simple terms old school SEO is NOT enough today. We need to be looking at Marketing, conversion and visitor engagement.
