Wal-Mart Shopping Experience Triggers Analytics Watch List
This post was inspired by a recent experience I had while out doing some house shopping. A few days ago I went to Wal-mart with my daughter. We actually went there to get false fingernails Sarah (my daughter) wanted. While we were there I needed a few snacks so I wandered over to the food section while Sarah was picking out her finger nails. One of the items I grabbed was our favorite snack, caramel chocolate square cakes- by Vachon. They are so delicious with that runny caramel surrounded by white icing that oozes out as you take your first bite, mmmm. I rarely shop for food at Wal-mart but, heck I saw they are now carrying limited food produce so what the hay!
We went home and ate pizza for dinner immediately followed by those highly addictive Caramel cakes. The only thing was the packaging was not the same as my usual purchase. Maybe a brand lift? It’s almost identical but there are subtle differences now that I look closely. I opened the box to find my cakes packaged in 2’s, just like the other ones. “Here you go Sarah” I said as I handed my daughter a package. We both took a bite at the same time and realized these were not the same. A big “YUK” at the same time, both Sarah and I had the same “awe that’s awful” face. We both could not even eat the first one, they were terrible. The differences were— no runny caramel, chocolate was hard and the cake texture was more brick-like. These were clever knock offs that were made to imitate the original. I am surprised Vachon has not taken legal action!
