How to Add Links to the Navigation Bar

This is a question that has to one answer. It really depends on the layout of your blog. For example I want to add a Home link to my top navigation menu on my GALearning blog

In this case I will edit the header.php file in my themes directory. If I look at the code I can just make a simple change;

The result from the highlighted area above is a nice homey hyperlink back to my homepage.

How to Do WordPress SEO

SEO is very simple and ongoing with every post. It is controlled with plugins. My favorite SEO plugin is All-in-one-SEO pack. It’s the main plugin for on page SEO. I also like to use a few others in conjunction with this plug in. Watch this WordPress All-in-one-SEO video. Watch this SEO Video

WordPress SEO Secrets

Alt tag your images

Don’t link to your login and registration page from all pages

Is WordPress seo is better than Joomla ?

Ask clients to pose questions as comments on your blog.

By default comments say “no comments”, change it to something inviting.

Use full feature of the SEO plugin

Visit our friends at Yoast for WordPress SEO

How to Prevent Duplicate Content

There is a WordPress tag page snippet to prevent duplicate content that most WP bloggers aren’t aware of. Although most of us know that duplicate content is not good, what about Comment Paging. Some of us like to use comment paging but this can result is duped content.

How to Use WordPress

The list continues to grow. You can use WordPress in ways you never imagined. I don’t know how else to express the true power than using a cliché like “boldly go” This robust blogging package will impress you in the world of blogging but many bloggers are looking far beyond blogging.

Manage subscribers & Contacts all from WordPress

Store and Share Information (Private and public)

Websites powered by WordPress

Blicky Transformation

WordPress ecommerce

Manage Newsletters & Email subscribers

How to Create a Static Page in WordPress

Getting your our static page live takes a few minutes. If you just want a static html page, prepare your content first just like my WordPress tutorial on creating your first post. There are a number of ways to accomplish static page creation. One way is to simply create your own homepage and FTP it to your server. Anywhere on your blog where there is a link to home will link to that page. E.g. www.yourdomain.com/bloghomepage.html. You could also just create a static page in your WordPress interface and make it your homepage. There are also plugins that allow you to make different themes for different categories which can add a new spin on what you are trying to accomplish with a homepage.

Then login to WordPress and navigate to “pages” in the navigation bar. Click “Add New”

Add a title, paste your content, make a nice custom URL, and insert SEO for WordPress. If you don’t have the All-in-one SEO Plugin—GET IT!!

How to Get Free WordPress Training

One of my favorite websites for getting the fundamentals right in WordPress is the WordPress Training site. Just Google WordPress Training and you’ll find no shortage of people willing to help you get started. Once you feel comfortable with the basics you may want to move onto more advanced WordPress usage.

All the above are creative ways to change gears with WordPress. If you can apply one of these to your blogging it will alleviate the problem of poor ranking and lack of visitor love. Do something now and see an marked improvement in your WordPress Blog.
