Look at the Crop Duster's Spray Through Press Coatings

This coating will be similar to varnish on both coated and uncoated papers but provides better protection over time. It is a low-pollution coating made under strict environmental-protective standards. It is a totally a water based coating which is applied in the same manner as ink on press. The coating can have an impact on its performance over time by withstanding wear and tear, scuffing and resistance to water. It can be applied in glossy, Matte or Satin finish to diffuse refection for better readability. When this protective coating is used it will typically cover the entire press sheet, but can also be set up to print the same as spot varnish (A custom graphic shape such as a logo)

Vector Art With your Favorite DTP program

I enjoy making my own professional artwork because it’s simple to create frames, boxes, or other page elements and place them where you want them within your project. Many of these programs have on board templates that are installed with the application that are great for ideas. Using my desktop program I always come up with original art that can be sent to anyone in the reproduction business to open and include in any project it is required. I stay away from the small, mickey mouse programs because they are stand alone. This means that they are rarely supported by others and can leave you in a quandary when you are trying to get professional support. BY using the reputable programs you get the best reproduction in color in RGB or CMYK language. We are often asked to create the logo from scratch which will ultimately be sent to print and the web for display. To insure the highest degree of accuracy use programs like Illustrator, Quark or Photoshop. For our needs we like illustrator. It is our #1choice for laying out and creating most any creative item called for in any format including SWF. Illustrator is used in our operation when you want to get Images in color for your designs and full color combination templates.

Artistic Design

Common effects you can use in these programs

Apply plain borders

Blending The Layers

Overlapping transparencies to create multiple color appearances

Adding fancy borders

Adding type treatments like flush right/ragged left

Applying Filters and effects

Gaussian Blurs

Facts on Four-Color Process Printing

Four-colour print works through light absorption and reflection. Cyan-Magenta-Yellow-Black is are the 4 primary colors that are used on the printing press. These colors are also available in many color laser printers today which allow you to get a rough idea of what your project may look like in its finished printed format. Four colour process colors can be determined with a color wheel that you learned helpful tips and advice with in school to design aesthetically. It is really a case of dialing the right color in then you’ll see how it’s made (Percentages of each color)

Four-color printing means Cyan Magenta Yellow Black (Kilo) as required for the printing process and CMYK digital printing machines.

Brochure Printing and Design Shopping Tips

Brochure printing is a practical process for any business. There are a large number of printing companies that compete for printing jobs, often getting a second or third opinion can often save, money, increase commercial printing quality and net you added extras that you would not otherwise have been entitled to.

Professional companies that provide brochure printing can be easily identified by one simple method…the people behind the scenes. If you are going to entrust a strange company with an important task such as the design and print of your company brochure then it would stand to reason that want to know more about the people you are dealing with.

Do yourself a favor and look for a contact phone number on their website. If it is hard to find or isn’t event available one might assume the same will happen with the printing order placed. When you find a phone number pick up the phone and dial it. At this point you may get a response from an automated attendant. To me I am not convinced yet! I WANT TO TALK TO A REAL PERSON. After all, you are going to be spending hard earned money here. The simple rule I have made is if I cannot speak to someone I will move on until I can find a real voice that can answer my concerns. If/ when you find a human that is willing to discuss your needs with you here are a few key questions to ask:

Is printing done Litho or digital

Does the price include artwork, if not can they accept a file from you? If the answer is yes than you need to find out the exact specifications that have for best setting up your file- ask them.

What are the payment terms?

What is the Guarantee; what If I don’t like what is printed?

These are just a few of the key questions you can ask to determine whether you want to do business with them. The answers and the way they reply can offer you some tell tale signs about your possible future. I suggest you really take the necessary time needed to make the right choice because once you make that choice and willingly give a deposit there is no turning back.

Most professional companies that provide brochure printing will usually exceed your brochure printing expectations. At the same time there are bad apples in every bunch. The purpose of your screening test is to quickly filter out the bad apples to avoid getting burned. Also consider what finishing capabilities are available to you such as bindery and mailing services. It is often the case that a brochure requires folding, tabbing, gluing and many other custom finishing possibilities that designers may build into the project. When you are ready to place an order you need to know the following basic information:

Details Of Your Brochure

STOCK: What type of paper? Thickness, color and finish

INK: What are the ink colors that are printing? Does the ink bleed? 4 / 0, 4/1, 4/4 or any special colors and protective coatings

SIZE: What is the final trimmed size? Most commonly 8 ½ X 11” is used for brochures

FINISHING: Will the brochure be flat or folded? Are there any custom operations such as perforating for tear offs? Make sure that you know what operations will be required to finish your order so you can clearly communicate this during the estimation stage

PREPRESS: Will you supply a digital file? Is the concept going to be completely developed by you? If so what it the best way to send the file for accurate reproduction? If not what is the fee to create the brochure?

QTY: How many will you print? With 4 color brochures the more you order the cheaper (Per unit) they will be. A good starting point for a real litho press is 5,000 8 ½ X 11”

By having your brochure is laid out in the right manner it will serve its readers well and likely provide a good response. Brochure printing can be very inexpensive when you stay within the realm of standards. It when you want customized brochures that it can get costly . You want to try and stay within the means of standard four-color printing as pretty well every brochure printing company is equipped well for this.

1 Way a Commercial Printer Will Print Your Order

This depends on the equipment the printer has. The scenarios below assume the printer has access to all machines.

11 X 17 ” Final Trim Size folds in 1/2

The success and acceptability often lies in the designer’s ability to feed all channels of information into a suitable aesthetically pleasing graphic masterpiece. Having the fortitude to connect all phases of the project in the appropriate areas of design is what separates the ordinary from the extraordinaire.

Artistic Design

A professional graphic designer will also carry the knowledge of what is attainable in print and litho. This is a critical part of annual report design…not going outside of the realm of what can be illustrated from design to production. Designers should be allowed to think and process there own thoughts first, then a wiser person who knows a-thousand-and-one things not to do may be called upon if needed. Usually that is the team leader that is called upon. In the production planning stage, the printer assumes a significant role.

Commercial printing can make or break the entire annual report design effort, most designers say “quality and knowledge” is what they look for first in a printer. To do this, any printer we work with has to have a broad knowledge base about printing techniques, inks and papers, and alternative ways to get us where the project needs to go. To seek and find a printer that will be able to handle the occasional artistic temperament and to caution when all is not well with a job can make the difference with this complete process.

A two-sided, accordion fold report suggests the two sides of the seriousness of managing a successful business, and the funky ambience of the business itself. Sheet overlaps, shown here in green, were glued as whole pages to let the accordion open, be easily perused and read, without interruption.

I can recall once meeting with a professional, top dollar, Toronto based graphic designer. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss production of the annual report for a multi billion dollar corporation. The prototype had been created by the team of designers and it was absolutely beautiful. It was for a major Canadian based clothier. The concept was a cover of a business man standing wearing a classy business suit sold by the clothier. The image was printed in full CMYK colors, 2 metallic spot colors, foil stamped, UV coated, embossed and die cut.

To open the report you would open it from the center of the lapel the man was wearing by unlocking interlocking tabs of paper. Once the report was opened the internal pages were a combination of translucent and semi gloss coated litho paper stocks. The internal pages would open like an accordion in 3 sections. The 3 sections would be affixed to the inside panels once reader opens lapel cover.

In my years of being in the business this was the most detailed project I had ever seen. All other printing companies that had looked at this project provided every reason under the sun why this could not be produced. I sensed this was the case once we started talking. My approach was anything could be done, the question was how will we do it?

With that attitude alone I was awarded a $95,000 printing order that was actually produced by 11 different companies. This is what separates a mediocre thinker from a creative thinker. The mediocre thinker tells you why it cannot be done while the creative thinker finds a way to make it happen. When it comes to project management, the designer can be the orchestrater. The symphony of music can play truly creative sounds while the conductor offers just that magic touch to make it perfect.

Making The Cover

This task is not a painstaking one; make it top of your list of importance with your company annual report. Don’t worry if you run into a little trouble with how to design a book cover that is why you have a graphic designer. If you are just drawing blanks ask your designer to impress you with fresh ideas. Allow your designer time to research your company and key people that make the wheels turn. A surprising recent finding is people that frequent the average bookstore spend approximately eight seconds looking at the front cover and 15 seconds reading the back, According to “The Wall Street Journal”.

You have front and back cover that need to be included in planning and design! Don’t miss out on concept for the back cover, it should be more subtle than the front while providing extra interest such as company credits, milestones or maybe a mission statement. The natural order will be the front cover has stimulated the reader enough to look at the back cover, then open the report and review contents. Clearly, the one represented by the well-designed, 3D cover with a relevant image will influence you in a more positive way, and will more likely induce you to purchase that book. In order to wrap your report properly it needs the skills of an experienced graphic designer who has experience in book cover design. In so many cases, the designer’s thought processes are likely to be more valued, as well as ever recommendations they make. The fact is a number of designers can give a client a nicely designed annual report, rarely to readers see or consider all the good thinking that went along with that. If we attempt to breakdown the annual report designing process there are 2 basic steps:

Designer’s concepts (renderings) in rough form they are created for acceptance. Once the designer’s proposal has been approved the production work begins; bringing all of the different facets of design, art, and production into the picture.

Graphic Preparation- Once all approvals are in place it is now the graphic production team than must produce the mechanicals or finished digital artwork needed to go into production

Many good designers share the same view around clients, that is to be seen as more that a person doing a job. There is so much more to offer when a client sees the talent and skill employed by the designer rather than a set of hands.

In general designers will tell you that the most interesting and effective annual reports are (stylistically and strategically) from smaller, more entrepreneurial types of companies, here the designer delivers a one stop operation to the president/CEO. Illustrations in your annual report bring editorial insight to the challenges facing your industry today. For many design companies the belief is in tight designer control. These jobs must be tightly controlled, because they can so easily get out of control at any stage of the process resulting in accurate planning and estimating. Clients need to clearly understand what they are getting from the designer and when a deviation is made from the original game plan why extra charges are applied.

With projects such as annual reports it is often wise to look at from the delivery date backwards, this way you will know the drop dead line. If the project will take 6 weeks to produce then once you infringe on this window of time your client knows the clock is ticking and there is a chance the order will now be late. This is the main reason why tight designer control is important! Creating an annual report book cover isn’t as hard as it seems. There are many new programs, such as Adobe Illustrator that offer a sample gallery of cover designs that make help get the creative juices flowing. Here are a few example found in Adobe’s sample folders.

By understanding what will be involved in designing, writing, publishing and distribution of your annual report, you can put the proper building blocks in place to ensure all goals are met. Listening well is at the top of the “to do” list when gathering the information from clients. When you add that to the designer’s ability to think and process the information you have a magic recipe. In the initial meeting with the creative team and client it is best to use this meeting as information gather only and not to offer any solutions until you have taken it all back, brainstormed with your artistic team, discussed solutions and then return on the second visit with possible solutions.

A few years ago, it was uncommon for people to have email signatures in their business branding strategies. Making sure that you have a simple email signature when you are starting your business or trying to expand can help your cause. In the next few posts I am going to offer tips on using your email signature to draw more attention to your business.

Most people know a little something about email since it is the most popular form of business communication. Few people know about using your email to brand yourself in depth. If you think you may be interested in a simple branding method for your business, here are some basic ideas on emailing and email signatures that you need to know.

What is an Email Signature?

Your email signature (sig block) appears on the bottom (footer) of your emails that you send out. It can include raw text, html with images, banners, rss feeds and style sheets. It usually includes important contact information in plain or html text. With minor coding knowledge your signature can also include images, RSS feeds, and even advertising.

Sample Email Signature with Business Card Image

Notice the image at the bottom of the signature! It was created in less than 5 minutes on this site.

How to Create Outlook Signature Images Video

The E Mail Signature Image you see above was created in less than 5 minutes, here’s how.

Your browser does not support iframes.

Options When Creating Outlook Picture Signature

As a creative thinker I am always thinking of business card uses.

Almost 50 business card categories and over 3000 unique design to choose from

Personalize your design

Use online tools to change fonts, backgrounds, logos and background transparency

Change colors and backgrounds

There are 100s of font colors organized in light and dark groups to make choosing text to suit light and dark backgrounds much easier

Save your file by emailing it to yourself or others

When you are done editing your file you can save it by emailing it to yourself. Then you can include it into your email signature.

Learn steps to adding it as an outlook email signature.

In just a few clicks you can place the business card design in your email signature. All future emails will contain your cool signature

Add your own photo

How hard was that?

Create Outlook Signatures from business card images in minutes that are simply not seen digital signatures. Add Picture Stationery in Outlook to create and improve your visibility. Cool Signatures always originate in your mind first. Why not be someone that actually invents instead of follows trends. Every picture say 1000 words, remember that one? It’s a fundamental in branding and graphic communication that has never changed.

A branded email signature is a great addition to any business, and if you are considering creating one or more for your company, it is a process that you should plan carefully. Sourcing 1 common signature from one location is a good approach with larger companies. However, you should be sure every user has a chance to personalize it for them, while maintaining corporate identity standards.

So you’ve been trying to find the right marketing mix for your business. You have learned there is no shortage of information but are overwhelmed with all the selections at the click of your mouse. The article below takes a broad look at marketing your business. Who are all those people trying to reach you and how can you extend your own reach? Recently I have been introduced to the best CRM in the world. After about a month of intense training I am totally WOWed!! Here are a few tips from my journey to chew on.

Email Contacts Help Build CRM

Mining Email Contacts To Build CRM

Is marketing of paper stationery an industry that is threatened by digital media? How many times everyday do you count on your email stationery template to deliver your company’s messages? What many entrepreneurs are not seeing is the world is overdosing on electronic messaging. How many emails do you get everyday? Then, tell me how many of those emails are wanted? OUCH IT HURTS SOMETIMES!

If your answer is similar to mine, email is not something we all look forward to downloading everyday! In fact, this process can be more painful than it’s worth for some. A lot is expected of the small business owner everyday including sorting through the funnel of messages. Who are all these people sending you documents and messages? Are they clients, government, associates, spammers or prospects? Do they even know me? What about all those Viagra emails?

It’s crazy but the stronger your web presence is, the more of a target it becomes for marketers of all types (wanted and unwanted). Let’s look a little closer at who is likely to send you unwanted or wanted messages.

Unwanted

Spammers

Product offers from unknown vendors

Nigeria Bank Transfer Proposals

Phishing scams

Wanted

Customers

Prospects

Family and friends

Employees

COOL! NOW I KNOW WHO IS TRYING TO CONTACT ME– SO WHAT!

Segmenting Email Contacts

Sort out your Client Base

If there is one conscious effort you should make is classifying the clients you are emailing as a primary means of business communication. At the root of your classification should be metrics like current value, potential value and relationship value. How well do you and your clients gel?

For goodness sakes, step out of your email box for a moment. That’s right export all your email data from outlook and take a close look. If you keep contacts sorted in folders using Outlook, you can start by exporting your action folders (clients). Classifying (segmenting) your email address book for business can be incredibly enlightening, powerful and profitable.

Once you have done this you can really get into some serious relationship marketing-building-management. Now you have all these contacts that you are familiar with, who is who? For example you may find in your “Clients” folder you have 2 classes of client….active and inactive. Take it a step further and break them down

Active Clients

Good potential

At potential

Likely referrals

Inactive Clients

Easily reactivated

Not easily activated

Out of business

This is just one example to get your mind in the groove of relationship building from existing contacts. There are countless ways to segment prospects and clients. But why is it so important to segment client data? This is your first step into the world of software assisted relationship management (Infusionsoft). It’s a world where business booms.

I know this sounds “WAY OUT THERE” but it truly is where modern day business is pounding the competition, its called customer love. We have all seen those motivational pictures in the boardroom or on the bosses wall “The Customer Comes First” or “The Custom is Always Right”. How many of them really mean it?

If you are not using CRM (client relationship management) to help manage your clients you are missing out on something very special. You might think CRM is not worth the time and money but for the majority of business owners I know, they all tell me the same thing—“We are here because we have clients”. Even for the skeptics it is understood that more clients means more profit AND profit is not a swear word. Profit is how businesses stay in business to serve the client. What clients are lacking today is simple appreciation for the loyalties they have. After all, loyal clients are the hardest to find!

How Much do You Love Your Clients and Prospects?

Client Relationship Management

A New Way of Doing Business

What I am about to share with you is a new way of thinking for your small business. – Are you ready to take your business to a new level? – Is it time to organize who is trying to contact you? – Do you want to leverage the technology around you to your advantage?

How to Propel Your Business

If you can see it in your mind you can believe it. If do not have a vision this article will help you form one. If you have a dream of the future, increase your peripheral vision with a few tips from this old dog.

4 Targeted Marketing Channel Options

Four Targeted Marketing Channel Options

Multi Level Marketing

Have you been approached or shown interest in MLM? Although it’s an enticing system it can eventually harm your precious business. Becasue so many scams are associated with MLM it is wise to take a look first before you engage. The MLM watchdog site is a good place to start. Maybe you are uncomfortable approaching family and friends for business or you just aren’t cut for the “fake it” until you make it mentality! On the other hand, some folks claim MLM is the lifeline of their business. How do you measure your marketing efforts in MLM? What if I told you there is an easy way to measure every ounce of response you are getting from your network meetings, seminars, or public speaking events? Wouldn’t it be insightful to know what meeting efforts have the most impact to your bottom line?

Traditional Marketing

It’s hard to know what is traditional these days. The folks over at Web Designing India have written a good comparison between traditional and internet marketing. In the eighties it was direct mail, in the 90’s it was direct mail, digital media and internet marketing. At the turn of the millennium businesses became very aware of Pay Per click, SEO, SEM, social networks and electronic communication as a marketing tool. However if you want to define traditional marketing we must be mindful of the goals. Traditional marketing objectives include broadening your own perspective, developing current clients, be seen as an expert, developing leads, getting referrals and increasing connectivity. Again, ALL this activity and effort can be measured with minimal effort. At the end of the day learning what means of traditional marketing is most meaningful to your objectives just makes you smarter about your business.

Creative Brand Design

A consistent graphic design will help you brand yourself and develop a visual identity. This means across the board! Your stationery, brochures, trade show pamphlets, business cards, website, advertising, and/or absolutely anywhere your business appears in the public eye. Once you have design continuity figured out it’s time to implement your distribution plan. How are you going to expose your new found identity and which branding methods work?

Classifiying Client Base

As we land new clients you would be wise to classify them. When they join your family of satisfied clients they are simply a new client. After a set period of time (I like 3 months) I classify them in A, B, C, or D class after review. The reason you want to do this is to understand how important they are to you along with easy access to each client. This does not help generate sales but it does help develop a higher level of intimacy with your clients. Guess what? That can be measured too. I mean the affect of classifying your clients—before and after.

Are you having a rough time trying to find the best way to manage your business, don’t worry—you’re not alone. Many times, a good idea is just a click away. If you know what you are looking for it’s easy to get the skinny. Finding help with marketing your business can be a whole lot easier online. It has been a while since I last posted on my blog. Things have really changed here at Reprotech since my last post (April 2008). In the past you have purchased business cards or postcards from us. The websites you may have ordered from are This site or PrintingLogos.com.

Newsfash From Robert

I have some really exciting news to tell you about. The first part of my newsflash is to let you know we are here for you. The difference is we no longer print (put the ink on paper). Our services are now more about website promotion and company imaging. Any business templates or custom artwork we have for your business is still stored on our system in a fully editable professional commercial printing format. If you require any help or your original artwork for local printing please feel free to reach out to us.

The second part is to tell you what we’ve been up to over the last year. Over the last year Reprotech was commissioned by a Toronto Based Internet Marketing Company to assist in getting the elite “Google Analytics Certification”. It took approximately 1 year but in the latter part of 2008 TechWyse Internet Marketing Solutions (the Company I work with), was awarded Google Analytics Certification. I have always been very passionate (and good at it) about website promotion and getting website’s ranked in the top 10 results. I bet you didn’t know this about me, but that’s in fact how you likely found us in the beginning. Further to getting a website ranked I always measure results very carefully using Google Analytics as my Seeing Eye dog.

As of January 2009 I became an internet marketing consultant for TechWyse Internet Marketing Solutions. My own little business of helping people get their website’s set up properly is starting to really take shape. I actually empower (teach) people how to get more out of their websites by focusing on goals and measurement. The areas I provide support & advice in include Pay per Click Advertising, Search Engine Marketing Strategies, Website Design, Google Analytics set up and reporting. I do it all so the “less technical” people that want to just run their business can do what they do best. I have just put up my new site that offers a lot of my opinions and advice around promoting your website. I have most of my advice right now in Google Analytics here GALearning.com

I am announcing this because I have had the pleasure of doing business before with you and value our relationship. If there is anything I can do for you:

Reorder your existing business template.

Make any other business templates found on this site (business cards), WePrintColour.com (postcards) or PrintingLogos.com/ (stock logos) personalized for you.

Instantly download your own logo set (Starts at $11/set). Find Stock Logos Here

Provide a free consultation of my new services.

Help you make the most out of your website.

In closing it may sound confusing, but it works great

Contact me anytime for more information on what’s going on. It would be a pleasure to work with you!
